There are many challenges to planning a one-way move, and one of the top issues is deciding which moving option will work out best for your needs. Here's more information about the choices available to you to help you determine which one to settle on.

One-Way Truck Rentals

Most of the time, moving truck rentals are round-trip deals; you are required to return the truck back to the place where you picked it up. However, some companies do let you use their equipment for one-way moves to other states for an extra fee. Even though it may cost a little more than the standard price, it still may be cheaper than hiring a full-service interstate moving company.

But lower cost is generally the only benefit. One-way truck rentals are purely self-service arrangements, meaning you would be responsible for loading and unloading the truck, filling it with gas, and driving to your destination. Additionally, whether a truck is available for a one-way move depends entirely on the company's inventory and the existence of a sister location in the city you're moving to where you can drop off the truck. If the company doesn't have a store in or near your new home or it can't spare the equipment, you won't be able to rent the truck for your one-way move.

Partial- or Full-Service Movers

A second option is to hire a company that specializes in interstate moves. Within this possibility, you have two options. With the partial-service mover, you would load the moving truck yourself and then have a company employee drive it to your new home. The employee would the drive the truck back to the origination point after the move. The full-service option has the employees loading and unloading the truck as well as driving it between destinations.

The partial-service option is cheaper than the full-service one, and is a good choice if you will have help getting your belongings in and out of the truck and so don't need the movers' help. The full-service option is best if you need some assistance with your belongings or just don't want to deal with them. In either case, a partial or full-service mover offers more flexibility than the truck rental because you don't have to worry about dropping off the moving equipment. The employees take care of that for you.

To learn more about either of these options or to schedule a time to move your belongings to your new home, contact a moving company, like Bekins Van Lines Inc.
